Shiva Mohsenzadeh, Candidate for Northfield Township Supervisor

 

Shiva Mohsenzadeh has called Glenview home for 14 years and has served as Northfield Township Supervisor and the President of the Northfield Township Food Pantry since 2021. Before that, she was a Township Trustee from 2017 to 2021. Shiva brings over a decade of experience in public policy, having worked as Chief of Staff to State Senator Laura Fine, specializing in constituent advocacy, community outreach, and policy development aimed at improving residents’ lives. Prior to her public service, she advised Fortune 500 companies on corporate and securities law as an attorney at Baker McKenzie LLP.

Shiva is a graduate of the Illinois Women's Institute for Leadership (IWIL), founded by Loretta Durbin, and the bipartisan Edgar Fellows program, founded by former Governor Jim Edgar. She is deeply committed to her community, having served as Chair of the Glenview Education Foundation and a member of the Glenview District 34 PTA Council. She also completed both the Leadership Glenview and Leadership Evanston programs. Shiva is involved in several local organizations, including the League of Women Voters of Glenview-Glencoe, the Kiwanis Club of Glenview, and the Rotary Club of Northbrook.

Originally from Iran, Shiva left her parents and moved to the U.S. at 15 to pursue her education. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Shiva and her husband have two active teenage sons who attend Glenbrook South High School. When she’s not working, Shiva enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, and hiking with her family.

Alida Nally, Candidate for Northfield Township Assessor 

Committed to ensuring property values are equitable. Alida Nally is a passionate taxpayer advocate for homeowners and currently serves as Northfield Township’s Assessor. A Certified Illinois Assessing Officer (CIAO) and former real estate appraiser with 23 years of experience in valuation, Alida was a small business owner who ran Landmark Appraisal, a real estate appraisal management company. Prior to her work as an appraiser, Alida worked in financial services as an Assistant Vice President for First National Bank of Chicago. A resident of Glenview for the last 25 years, Alida grew up in the Boston area and is a graduate of Stonehill College with a degree in business finance. Active in the community,

 

Alida is a proud member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Women’s Club. Alida and her husband have three children and two grandchildren. They remain dedicated fundraisers for their children’s schools, Loyola Academy, Regina Dominican High School, and Fordham University. Alida considers herself a valuation “geek” and loves digging into what drives property value. The role of Township Assessor is to serve the property owners of Northfield Township, as a member of the community, it is a responsibility Alida cares deeply about.

 

Vincent Pace, Candidate for Northfield Township Trustee 

Vincent Pace has served as a Trustee of Northfield Township since 2021, leveraging his knowledge of operations, finance, and the law for the benefit of the township. He works in real estate investment finance as the Chief Operating and Information Officer of Quanta Finance and as owner of the Northbrook-based Albeca Financial. Previously, he ran a real estate finance fund, also in Northbrook, overseeing more than $100 million in new loans. A practicing attorney until 2013 with a focus on securities and M&A at major international law firms in New York, Tokyo, and Beijing, Vincent also found time for pro bono legal work assisting victims of domestic abuse in obtaining U visas and establishing nonprofit organizations. As a legislative intern for Representative Steny Hoyer in the 108th Congress and for the legislatures of Japan and Taiwan, Vincent has participated in government on the global stage.

 

Closer to home, Vincent calls on his Eagle Scout roots to give back as scoutmaster of Troop 64G, Northbrook’s first Scouting America troop for girls, and as assistant scoutmaster for Troop 57, a coed troop in Glenview. Vincent speaks eight languages and holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science, international affairs, and East Asian studies from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, a juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a master’s in law from Tsinghua University’s Law School. He has lived in unincorporated Northbrook since 2013 with his wife, their five children, and his mother, and enjoys hiking up mountains and long runs along the Des Plaines River.

Daniel Schack, Candidate for Northfield Township Trustee


Daniel Schack has proudly served on the Northfield Township Board of Trustees since 2021, leveraging the use of data to inform decision-making. He works as VP of Sales Operations for Rico Industries, a family-owned Niles-based manufacturer of sports-licensed novelties. At Rico, Daniel pioneered the use of data analytics to manage sales to the nation's top retailers. As President of Am Yisrael Synagogue in Northfield, he helps oversee finances, reviewing the budget and balance sheet. With his expertise in data and communications, Daniel upgraded the Democrats of Northfield Township’s strategic communications outreach efforts as Data Director, while serving as Neighborhood Ambassador for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

 

Daniel has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, class of 2002 and 2003. He grew up in Glenview and graduated from Glenbrook South High School. A Northbrook resident for the last 12 years with his wife and District 28 school board Vice President Mara Silver-Schack, Daniel enjoys trivia competitions, discussing current events, and playing with their three precocious kids.

Kate Spears, Candidate for Northfield Township Trustee 

Kate Spears has been involved in local community service organizations and politics for over 25 years. Prior to being elected trustee, she served as District Director for Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz in charge of communications and community engagement initiatives. Previous to changing her focus to public service, Kate led strategic communications initiatives as a consultant at both McKinsey & Company and Accenture, as well as an executive at Gallagher. She now serves companies and executives on a part-time basis. Before her consulting career, Kate was a litigator. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School and Marquette University.

 

Kate has lived in Northbrook for over 30 years; her two sons graduated from District 28 schools and Glenbrook North. Kate is a volunteer at area literacy organizations, an active participant in Oakton’s adult education programs, and a supporter of the Baha’i community, Alpha Sigma Nu, as well as the Chicago Botanic Garden and the NSYMCA. In her spare time she enjoys pickleball, hiking, curling, open water swimming,and traveling. 

 

Scott Ottenheimer, Candidate for Northfield Township Trustee 

Scott is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in management consulting, global insurance operations, and real estate. Currently, he is a full-time real estate broker, specializing in both residential and commercial properties. Scott began his career in management consulting, where he honed his skills in strategic decision-making, client relationship management, and data analysis. His passion for real estate led him to explore the field alongside his corporate career, and after a decade of successful ventures, he made the transition to focus on real estate full-time. As an expert in the industry, Scott is dedicated to guiding clients through investment opportunities, home searches, and business site selection, ensuring their satisfaction through exceptional service. His background in management consulting and insurance has equipped him with a keen eye for efficiency, cost reduction, and strategic sourcing, making him a valuable asset to both individual clients and businesses.

 

Beyond his professional life, Scott is deeply committed to community service. He serves as a Trustee for Northfield Township, contributing to the community with empathy, compassion, and inclusivity. He was also the Treasurer and Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Williams Syndrome Association, driven by personal experience as his oldest daughter was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome. Scott has raised over $100k to support research and programming for the organization. Scott is a graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and resides in Northbrook with his wife, Jenna, their two daughters, and their dog.

Caryn Fliegler, Candidate for Northfield Township Clerk 

With a focus on building strong communities and using her organizational skills to serve people, Caryn Fliegler has gratefully served as Township Clerk since 2021. She has spent her professional and personal volunteer life focused on improving community health, safety, and education. Caryn writes and manages grants, currently at T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, and prior to that at The Josselyn Center, the community mental health center in Northfield. She served for five years on the Board of Makom Solel Lakeside synagogue and was named by Jewish Chicago: The JUF Magazine as one of five local women making a difference and blazing trails of tikkun olam in 2023.

 

 

She served for three years as volunteer co-lead for the Illinois chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and supported passage of the landmark Protect Illinois Communities Act, which made Illinois the ninth state in the nation to ban the sale of assault-style weapons. She has raised her two teen daughters in Northbrook with her husband, Russ. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University. 

Michael J. Korman, Candidate for Northfield Township Highway Commissioner

Mike is an accomplished leader with extensive experience spanning military service, corporate management, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. A retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9), Mike served with distinction for 25 years, including contingency construction and leadership roles in four combat zones. His exemplary service earned him the Bronze Star Medal, and he proudly served on the staffs of General David Petraeus and General Martin Dempsey (later Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) during his deployment to Iraq from 2005 to 2006. As a Heavy Equipment Operator with the legendary U.S. Navy Seabees and a Disabled Veteran, Mike exemplifies dedication and resilience.

Following his Naval career, Mike transitioned into the corporate world, becoming a Construction Executive for Target Corporation. In 2010, he played a pivotal leadership role in expanding full-service grocery departments in all Chicagoland Target stores and numerous others across the United States.

Since 2015, Mike has embraced entrepreneurship as a Vetrapreneur, an FAA-rated Drone Pilot, and a Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater. His commitment to his local community is evident in his service as an appointed member of the Village of Glenview Plan Commission (2017–2019) and his election to the Glenview District 34 School Board. While on the School Board, Mike led efforts to implement a $119 million referendum construction initiative, which included introducing full-day Kindergarten to the district and provided major facility upgrades to all school houses, most especially the remodeling of Springman Middle School.

Mike holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He and his wife, Caryn, who serves as an Assistant Vice Chancellor at UIC, are proud parents of a junior at Glenbrook South High School (GBS).

An active community leader, Mike is the Senior Vice Commander of the Northbrook American Legion Post #791. As an Accredited Claims Agent for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, he provides pro-bono assistance to veterans seeking compensation and other claims, reflecting his unwavering commitment to those who have served.
