Biography

Senator Dick Durbin was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996 after representing central and southern Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives for 14 years. Today, Dick serves as the Assistant Democratic Leader (also known as the Democratic Whip) — the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate—and on the Senate Judiciary, Appropriations, and Rules Committees.
